ijust killed skele in pre hm on console, with fossil gear, unreal boomstick, flameburst rod, and vamp frog staff.
first time killing skele on console.
I really main melee simply because of its easy ability to use.
For summoners, if theres too many enemies and your summons dont focus on ones close to you, your armor wont protect you very long.
For mages, mana is a big problem and drinking potions deduct nearly half your damage.
For rangers, ammo and speed are issues too. If you have infinite ammo, you just need a weapon that you can utilize in many situations.
For melee, there are also drawbacks. Enemies that deal massive damage close range and far range. Projectile attacks can keep a melee person back. Daytime Empress is an example of melees weakness. You may have more defense but you can be outdamaged
I use a mix of all 4 actually. Mage for mid range, ranger for long range, melee for close up and defense for heavy enemies, and summoner for extra damage and/or for enemies through walls or ones I can see or get to
Ranger is high DMG. mage build is hard to start and sucks until skeleton boss or if you get the scythe early.
Contrary to the fact that I hate mage, I just started a mage play through. The play through is actually going better than expected.
