This Privacy Policy explains how Dark Gaming collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Dark Gaming website and community forum at https://forum.dark-gaming.com/.

Dark Gaming is a community for players of the Dark Gaming Terraria server. The forum is used for community discussions, server announcements, support, player reports, suggestions, guides, and other community activities.

1. Information we collect

When you use the Dark Gaming forum, we may collect information that you provide directly, including:

  • username and display name;

  • profile information;

  • profile image;

  • forum posts, topics, messages, reports, and other content you submit;

2. Google Sign-In

Dark Gaming offers Google Sign-In as an optional method of creating, accessing, or linking a Dark Gaming forum account.

If you choose to use Google Sign-In, Google may provide Dark Gaming with basic information associated with your Google account. Depending on the information available from Google, this may include:

  • your Google account identifier;

  • your email address;

  • whether your email address has been verified by Google;

  • your name;

  • your profile image; and

  • other basic profile information made available through Google’s authentication service.

Dark Gaming uses this information only for purposes related to authentication and your forum account.

In particular, Google user information may be used to:

  • authenticate you when you sign in;

  • create a Dark Gaming forum account;

  • identify an existing Dark Gaming account;

  • link your Google account with your Dark Gaming account;

  • associate your verified email address with your forum account;

  • populate basic account information such as your name or profile image; and

  • prevent fraudulent or unauthorised account access.

Dark Gaming does not use Google Sign-In to intentionally access the contents of your Gmail account, Google Drive files, Google Calendar, contacts, photos, or other unrelated Google services.

Google Sign-In is an authentication method and is not used for advertising or marketing purposes.

Dark Gaming does not sell Google user data.

Information received from Google APIs will be handled in accordance with applicable Google API Services policies, including applicable Limited Use requirements.

3. How we use your information

We may use information collected through the forum to:

  • create and manage user accounts;

  • authenticate users;

  • operate and maintain the forum;

  • display usernames, profiles, and content to other users;

  • provide community and technical support;

  • send account-related or forum notifications;

  • moderate discussions and enforce community rules;

  • investigate reports and complaints;

  • detect and prevent spam, abuse, fraud, or security threats;

  • diagnose technical problems;

  • maintain backups and security logs;

  • improve the operation and reliability of the forum; and

  • comply with legal obligations where applicable.

We do not use information received through Google Sign-In for unrelated advertising purposes.

Dark Gaming is a community forum.

Information that you choose to publish publicly, including your username, profile information, topics, posts, replies, and other contributions, may be visible to other users or to the general public.

You should avoid publishing personal information that you do not want others to see.

Private messages, staff-only information, and content posted in restricted areas are subject to the access controls of those areas.

7. Google user data sharing

Information obtained through Google Sign-In is used for authentication and account-management purposes.

We do not:

  • sell Google user data;

  • transfer Google user data to data brokers;

  • use Google user data for targeted advertising;

  • allow humans to access Google user data except where necessary for security, support, legal compliance, or operation of the account; or

  • use Google user data for purposes unrelated to providing and securing the Dark Gaming forum.

Basic information received from Google may be stored as part of your Dark Gaming account for as long as it is reasonably required to maintain that account.

8. Data storage and security

Dark Gaming takes reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information from:

  • unauthorised access;

  • unauthorised disclosure;

  • alteration;

  • loss; and

  • misuse.

Administrative access to user information is restricted to people who require that access for legitimate operational, moderation, security, or support purposes.

However, no internet service or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

Account information may be retained while your Dark Gaming account remains active.

Forum posts and other contributions may remain available after an account is deleted or anonymised where retaining them is necessary to preserve conversations, moderation records, or the integrity of the forum.

Security, moderation, and technical logs may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary for:

  • abuse prevention;

  • security investigations;

  • resolving disputes;

  • enforcing forum rules; or

  • complying with legal obligations.

Information associated with Google Sign-In may remain stored while your Google account remains linked to your Dark Gaming account.

10. Disconnecting Google Sign-In

You may revoke Dark Gaming’s access to your Google account through your Google Account security and permissions settings.

Revoking access prevents future authentication using that Google authorisation unless you authorise Dark Gaming again.

Revoking Google access does not automatically delete your Dark Gaming forum account or information that has already been stored as part of that account.

If you want information associated with your Dark Gaming account deleted, you should also request deletion of your Dark Gaming account as described below.

11. Account and data deletion

You may request deletion or anonymisation of your Dark Gaming account and associated personal information by sending a private message to @staff on the Dark Gaming forum.

Where account-deletion functionality is available directly through the forum, you may also use that functionality.

If you are unable to access your forum account, you may send your request to [email protected].

When processing a deletion request, we may need to retain limited information where reasonably necessary for:

  • legal compliance;

  • security;

  • fraud or abuse prevention;

  • moderation records;

  • resolving disputes; or

  • preserving the integrity of existing forum discussions.

Where appropriate, identifying information may be anonymised rather than deleting forum discussions entirely.

12. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to you, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including the ability to request:

  • access to personal information held about you;

  • correction of inaccurate information;

  • deletion of certain information;

  • restriction of certain processing; or

  • information about how your personal information is used.

Requests can be made by sending a private message to @staff or by emailing [email protected].

We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.

13. Children’s privacy

Dark Gaming does not knowingly use Google Sign-In or the forum for the purpose of collecting personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

If you believe personal information relating to a child has been collected improperly, please contact us so that the matter can be investigated.

14. Third-party services and links

The forum may contain links to websites and services operated by third parties.

Dark Gaming is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party websites or services. You should review their privacy policies before providing them with personal information.

Google’s handling of information within your Google account is governed by Google’s own privacy policies.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:

  • the Dark Gaming forum;

  • the services we use;

  • our data-handling practices;

  • Google Sign-In; or

  • applicable legal or regulatory requirements.

When this policy is updated, the Last updated date at the top of the page will be changed.

Material changes relating to the use of Google user data will also be reflected in this policy.
