I need urgent help. An error occurred while updating Terraria a few days ago, and I lost my characters. I created a new character and named it “DarkySirius,” but I later learned that “Darky” is technically a derogatory slur against Black people. I don’t know if I can reclaim the name “Dark Sirius” if I delete that old account, but I really want my old name back. However, I’ve forgotten the password for my previous account, and I can’t ask for help via Discord because access is blocked in my country

Try just joining with a character named “DarkSirius”, if your uuid is still the same, you should be able to just say /login to login. If that works, you can then reset your password by following this post: Account Management Guide

Resetting Your Password

If you know your password, then you can go to PvE and use /password to reset your password.

For example, if your password is diffuser simile headgear snowiness proxy, use the following command to set your password to A2BNi2UVjVbMna. Please do not use this password.

/password "diffuser simile headgear snowiness proxy" "A2BNi2UVjVbMna"

Otherwise, to reset your password, we need to verify that you are indeed who you claim to be. Currently, there is only one way to verify your identity.

1. If you aren’t already logged-in in-game, follow UUID Login. If you are unable to login, then we cannot help you, sorry. You can create a new account if you wish.
2. If you haven’t already, sign up for a forums account and log in.
3. Then, message staff for a password reset.
4. After staff responds, follow the instructions given to reset your password.
