This was back when EpicBossMan was a helper.

Pretty cool.

According to old posts I dig up about the guy, he seems like a pretty idiosyncratic.

So back then helpers were basically staff assistants?

I am not really sure what exactly a “helper” was supposed to be.

Lemme dig up old posts.

The only thimg I know is that it was supposed to be a badge, not applied for. But then somehow people started applying for it

Before 2014

That’s what they were.

I don’t think much has changed about it in 7 years.

Same goes for that post which was created in 2014.

I found this post sometime in October : Helpers and the new Badge system

The Badge system was just a suggestion.

Being a helper means that you are trusted.

It’s a weird pseudo-staff role.

I only looked at the Introduction but it makes more sense now

If being a helper meant that you were trusted, why would people who applied need to like, actually help?

If helpers were like that then people would probably just be given control of something and how he/she reacts would determine whether he/she can be trusted or not.

I think there was a post something in the middle of 2014 in which Rofle complains that too many Helpers are not performing their “role”.

Also, it’s a notable fact that in 2014, there were 200+ Helper Applications

That’s more than half of the total 376 Helper Applications ever created on the forums.

Just the product of hype

People most likely wanted privelages and cool cosmetic features tbh.

Why did the forum’s popularity go downwards?

When did Discord become popular?

I think it has more to do with having the role rather than having the privelages, because psychology.

No idea, but it was easier to chat on there so it immediately started gaining faster than the forums

Well I mean, it was pretty common for players to not perform their roles and leave after some months pass.

Wait, this used to be common?
