You have to have PvP off for this to happen, or else they disappear. They will also disappear if you go over the enemy limit.
I could see this potentially causing lag to deliberately interrupt PvP, however its unlikely this will happen due to the limit. Do note you cannot use this to proc palladium armors bonus/any weapon kill effect (for example; vampire knives).
