The problem with DP

Ladies And gentlemen, I have cooked and have gave everyone food poisoning.
What I mean is that I have no new ideas for improving the server…
So what if we look back on old ideas?

Dark Points, or DP if you are lazy, is the main server currency, and I would like to revisit and expand it.

So, What does DP currently do in game? Nothing.
How do you earn it? You do mind numbing tasks for weeks.
So, What is it used for? A locker outside of the game, where you can buy cosmetics at extreme prices, which can already be obtained through voting or leveling up.

Now, do i know how to solve this? (Spoiler! No, I am not a game designer or a finance expert.)

But I would like to extend the opportunity to you, the reader, to do something about it. This server thrives on its community, as well as your feedback and commitment.

Anyways, Im going to crawl back into the sewers and see if i can cook up an idea for a potential expansion of the gamemodes, including more Minigames.

U are right. Dp are way too difficult to get and u can only get it in especific ways, ii think they should make it so u get some credits by leveling up or Just make the prices lower

I’m mainly addressing the lack of uses for DP. In game, you can’t even use it while on the server.
But I do agree that DP is quite hard to get, considering the prices in the shop.

the whole “leveling up” part is very hard to use as levels rarely give crates (talked to camelot about this)
voting is yes a very good way to get both items, and yet also DP through metals.
Credits are apparently worth less than DP ig

basically doing anything (Killing players in PvP, killing bosses in PvE, doing rounds in zombies) other than survival gives you DP, so specific ways isn’t really true

for people like Sertastic with high DP amounts, this would mean they basically just lost a lot of networth, cause their DP is basically worth less now

Final Suggestion: Make credits a way to buy DP, and make metals a Credit gain instead of a DP gain. Leaving this here as a funny suggestion.

Actually a good idea, not diminishing the (non existent) value currently in place, while making it more accessible.

We still need to address the lack of uses.

currently we have upgrading your inventory to hold more items or use more special items (etc. RoD, /startwind) and trading and buying from the shop XP efficiency is not active, why i have no idea.
I would say to add either a way to gamble like you can with credits, except it costs WAY MORE which would make people grind DP or trade more, and this gambling system COULD give titles exclusive to the DP gambling
Or, other addition would be to be able to buy ANY item wanted, but instead of the normal shop prices it would have an increased price due to being able to get it whenever wanted.

Perhaps the minigames section could be overhauled with new minigames you can unlock with DP, or have the minigame section clear all items so you could buy cosmetics (I am aware of cosmetics already, just thinking in game)

this suggestion should REALLY be added, then new gamemode suggestions would have a chance of being added for once lmao, but im pretty sure mods are still working on things like Custom Mob Waves for zombies

Personally, I like zombies, but they need to focus on the rest of the server, maybe even closing submissions for new maps so that they can focus on other areas.

they’re already balancing zombies with Survival challenges, setting up Survival Special Seeds (Remember the fact they had to make their own custom survival maps for special seeds)
closing submissions would be kinda unfair, what if someone spent a lot of time on their map and the next day the mods said “Map submissions are closed”
Camelot is actually already working on PvE stuff, i totally didn’t see what camelot was doing
They are also constantly making sure PvP is balanced and fair so that it’s all skillz (bubble gun is a menace)

Also we only have two main developers(durtle and rofle), and they’re most likely waiting for the next terraria version to come out.

yes, 1.4.5 is gonna add stuff and may overhaul things like previous updates did, so it’s probably good to hold on MAJOR things until 1.4.5

It is actually way easier to get than before
Prices from the shop got also REALLY lowered

Still, Most ways of farming DP are more passive (In the form of metals) So in a way its a bit easier to get DP as you don’t need to play 24\7 to get DP

Or if not, Hardcore zombies is a good way

That really sounds like something from a generic mobile game lol, defo a terrible idea
Also, As dian said, There are only 2 Devs, so “More gamemodes” its kinda out of scope

New maps can be made by almost any user, So these don’t affect in any way development times as are community made and pmuch done by will (And also none of the Devs are making maps as now)

All of these points stated are handled by members outside of the Developers , So again2 ,These dont’ affect server development times

And also , In general only the owner controls the economy, So kinda in reality this is more a matter of experimenting what works rather than “Stop focusing on PVP balancing,Map submissions”
As many sudden changes has been made to economy of the sudden Like that time XPeff% was so broken someone overflowed the XP value

Other than suggesting that credits be a predecessor to DP, I came up with another suggestion based on games that have stores:

What if… drumroll please…
You could BUY LOOTBOXES WITH DP!?!?
No praying to the level up gods or voting, just pure gambling!!!

Second suggestion:

drumroll please…

The ability to BUY XP with DP!

simple formula:

(DP/10) > XP

this would make people grind DP as opposed to making Plantera go extinct in PvE

uhhh converting dp to xp has basically no use(and its stupid expensive at high levels > i need 40k xp to fill the last bit of whitespace)
