I’d like to address an issue I find with the quantity of votes on the http://terraria-servers.com/ our server receives and the number of people playing on it every day.
Dark Gaming server is one of the most visited server from all on the list, but the quantity of votes it receives is so small. It seems the big bold text at the top of the DTP page isn’t enough. Even most loyal players rarely do it. I think we should remind & encourage people to support our server more!
I have two ideas ATM. First one - the most important - would be a notification for DTP players, letting them know that they haven’t voted for the server today yet. Written in some nice way, like “, it seems you haven’t voted for Dark Gaming server today. Give your vote as a sign of support, and gain large amount of XP instantly! Visit: terraria-servers.com/server/90/vote/”. Something like that. Or maybe less personal, “You like our server? Let others know. Vote for Dark Gaming today at Terraria Servers! Support us and gain large amount of XP for yourself. terraria-servers.com/server/90/vote/”
Second, some prizes for the top votes in the month, like (for example) instant level up, or an upgrade point. Or some other precious thing. I know one already gain XP for each vote… but maybe it’s not enough, I think, when one looks at the quantity of votes.
I agree with you, both myself and A68 have been consistently voting for the server not just for the experience points but for our server to be shared and recognised. The staff members here has built such a great community and have dedicated a good portion of their lives making sure the server is in order. We as players should support our community by voting so that others are aware too.
This sounds like a really great idea. During January I voted a ton (almost every day). But this month I haven’t been voting much. A system like this would definitely remind me to go vote.
Sorry for the Necro, but this idea seems nice. The reason why I spam PvP is because I enjoy it and I enjoy leveling up in the DTP and getting rare stuff. I think each vote per day should have a free item/block in your Inventory. Then as you vote for each consecutive day, the rarity of the item you get a day will increase and the counter will reset every month. Also the top 1, 2, and 3 voters for each month get a really special item, the top 4-10 will get something nice too but not that rare.
This gives people the sense of fulfillment in doing said task and will want to continue doing it for a long time. This is the reason why Teeria Legends and Panther have really high votes. Voting gives players good rewards that they can really use; unlike the system currently employed in our server which gives us EXP less than we can get with killing 5 - 10 people in PvP.

The actual reward is one quarter of the XP required to reach the next level, which differs. I think that this has a pitfall in that if you are half way through a level, you might hold off for a while to get the most XP from your vote.
Oh well now that i’m here, i’d just like to point out that we already get 0.05 credits every time we vote. Although it would be nice for the top voters of every month to get something…
Closing since the suggestion is a bit muddied because the rewards are different now than before. If someone wants to make a new suggestion specifically for top voter rewards, they can.
