TL;DR: Some NPCs on the survival server are really tedious to get to respawn, and they keep getting clapped because monsters are too sw0l for them to handle. This could be fixed by making mobs unable to spawn/be spawned while on or around the spawn platform, make all mobs despawn immediately upon entering spawn, making bosses not aggro to players/NPCs inside spawn, or any combination of these three.
On the survival server, it’s been getting really annoying having to deal with the fallout after any major boss/event battle; all the new people are sour about getting spawn camped by 30+ Pumpkings and not being able to do anything about it, and almost every NPC gets immediately wiped from any mob stronger than something from a Blood Moon attacking spawn. The latter is the main gripe my post is written for today, because if this happens immediately before or after the server reverts back to Pre-Hardmode, many NPCs that are vital to gameplay won’t respawn, forcing people to drop progression and current projects altogether just to perform mundane tasks to check off enough game flags to get all the NPCs back; patrolling the oceans to find the Angler, wasting time fighting random misc. bosses for the Witch Doctor, Clothier, Mechanic, Tinkerer, Steampunker etc. respectively. The worst of these offenders is when the Cyborg dies (which happens often), who only respawns after you beat Golem, who, in order to summon, the world must be in Hardmode and have Plantera beaten. This forces you to grind for Voodoo dolls to fight the WoF, fight all 3 mechanical bosses, and then find a Plantera bulb (all 3 of these tasks can be extremely difficult if you are under-equipped/prepared) before FINALLY being able to summon and fight Golem and get the Cyborg to respawn afterwards. This entire process can take close to an hour depending on how good players’ RNG is, and could be completely avoided with enough steps put in place to make spawn a safer place. I feel like this problem could be solved by marking the entire floating spawn platform as a no spawn/no aggro zone, which would prevent hostile mobs/and bosses from both spawning in as well as targeting those inside spawn, preventing inadvertent NPC casualties, as well as discouraging players from dragging bosses to/around spawn, which understandably can be very annoying for poorly equipped newer players to deal with/escape from. Thoughts?
(P.S. Unrelated but kinda related, Skeletron/Skeletron Prime, Queen Bee, and sometimes even Plantera REALLY like to aggro to people in and teleport directly to spawn immediately after being summoned, no matter how far away from spawn the player summoning them may have been. Really strange, but likely a bug with the game.)
