I mean I did kind prove that a summoner isn’t as viable as a build that uses minimal weapons in my case BB Spoon and Starlight. In the duel I had against Nate last night even tho it was 5-4 in my favor the only real damage he did was with his Dark Harvest his Tempest Staff only did minor damage compared to just his Dark Harvest.
Nate if you want a win in a rematch tonight which I would be down for may I suggest using the dark harvest more often when attacking head on my biggest issue with whips is judging their range so you could take advantage of that, also if you are gonna run try your absolute best to line your Tempest staff summons as best as possible with my flight patterns since I use emp wings I have to move in a wave like flight path so mimicking the same pattern could help you in a chase scenario but I do vary my movements so you will have to be thinking about which way I might fly in a wave flight pattern
I only wish for you to improve your summoner build as best as possible that’s why I am helping you
yeah, my main problem is my terrible habit from 8 years of constantly running from my enemy xD my aggro needs some serious work, as does my movement
also, i left before i remembered to tell you good game XD
unfortunately, i wont be here tonight tomorrow is a snow day tho, so i can duel any time tomorrow
You know, it would actually make sense if the best summoner build used more than one type of summon.
Example:
2 Sanguine Bats are attacking stuff that gets near you
A Stardust Dragon attacking super strong enemies
2 pairs of Twins Attacking medium distance enemies
Probably a bad example, but it could work, in theory.
yeah, but disabling the buffs and resummoning takes too much time while ur exposed, and not even able to attack with whips, i have tried that before. Additionally, certain summons are simply garbage for all purposes
the best combo i can think of (that ive used before) is Sanguine Staff + Blade Staff, blade staff is great close range and sanguine staff covers everything else
well guys its official, this just went to a new level of unfairness for summoners
Tempest Staff, Raven Staff, and Blade Staff are now banned from pvp because they replicate held weapon damage upon contact with players. This honestly shouldn’t be a problem, as Orichalcum, Chlorophyte, and Titanium armor set bonuses also do that, but for some reason, they are banned. It is technically qualified as an exploit, but why can’t that just be part of pvp? All three of those listed armor sets have nothing in it for summoners, so why can’t these weapons become the summoner variant of those sets? I really am starting to think summoner is being discriminated against.
Where does anything say that?
nope, MichelleZ and Eerie say otherwise, they both threatened to report me if i used any of them ever again
This is to prevent when you have 8 minions and hold sniper rifle and when you ram minions into players then you’d deal 130 damage each hit and the cluster makes that unbalanced. This cannot be fixed as that is a game bug and exploit = bugusing in games (except Hoik).
iirc Terraria fixes this internally by tracking the original actual summon damage and the original summon damage. However, I dont think this fix is implemented in PvPController yet since… minions lol
glasia, i see ur point, but im a pure summoner, and the tempests are really easy to dodge anyway, half the people i fight never get hit by the tempests, and the other half are randoms or true melee only. They could be unbalanced, but you can actually dodge them with relative ease unlike Orich. Also, having that many summons means sacrificing defense and/or mobility, unlike the armor sets, which have substancial stats.
Summoner is not a PvP class.
Summoner is a PvE class.
Summoner does not work for our system of PvP for the following reasons:
- Lack of weapon variety. You can choose between whips, a summon, and a sentry.
- The weapons that exist are all point and click/player following.
-point and click weapons require near 0 skill and this is why we do not want them viable.
-player following weapons (summons) require near 0 skill as they just follow the player. - Many of the weapons are bugged and do not work as intended.
-doing held weapon damage is problematic as some weapons can deal 200~ damage, this is an unintended and unfun mechanic that we do not want to exist.
Pure summoner is not wanted as a class within PvP. Any summoner mechanics/weapons that are viable should be used on kits that do not focus purely on summoner.
You can self-victimize and cry prejudice all you want, summoner is not, and likely will never be an intended part of PvP.
point and click weapons do actually require decent amounts of skill to use properly, as the only way to hit your enemy precisely is to predict their movements. While I do agree with the assessment on summons, I must say that people are starting to sound like a broken record around here; ‘summoner is not a pvp class’
if there’s one thing I have to say, it’s that telling me not to use summoner in pvp is never gonna work, or have any negative affect on me. If you intended to keep me from using summoner, or trying to make me feel the way you feel about this whole ‘summoner isnt a class’ thingie, you failed. I’d be happy to turn this thread into a debate.
(disclaimer: im honestly not mad about any of this lmao, in fact I nearly died laughing when I read Avery’s comment)
You point and you click. This is the lowest amount of skill required for a PvP weapon.
You can feel free to use summoner in PvP, no one is gonna try and stop you.
You just need to understand that it is not intended to be a class used in PvP, and so it will not be receiving any support. Meaning that you shouldn’t be complaining about how weak the class is, as this is intentional.
dont worry, im never gonna complain about how “weak” it is
additionally, point and click is just about every weapon, and its not even autouse like many other popular pvp weapons that actually require no skill.
you say it wont recieve any support, but what you mean is that it won’t be recieving support from the staff. That’s a pretty big difference, but its a mistake many make.
edit: this isnt going to reach a decisive end, so I’m just gonna stop talking about it.
The only other point and click weapons that are not summoner are Heat Ray and Shadowbeam Staff, neither of which goes through walls like RCS does. Only needing to click your opponent requires multitudes less skill than leading a shot or using an arching weapon with a slower velocity. Point and click weapons also cannot be dodged which is why we do not want them in play.
“support” within the context above is a synonym for development; not community support, though it’s been very clear that the vast majority of the community don’t look upon summoner with good graces.
People dislike Summoner for the reasons listed above, complaining about this and attempting to call people out by name, with screenshots, just for holding an opinion you do not agree with is childish and should be avoided in the future.
Because especially when they fly at 84 km/h across the arena
You got the point (I understand the broken record, e.g. When I get called AI)
If you intend to keep Nate away from summoner we both will strike on pvp.
I can worse: spamming weapons like Bat Scepter
Which is worse Bat Scepter spam or Terra Blade spam?
I would say Terra Blade spam is worse but that’s just my opinion LOL
bat scepter spam, at least you can use antirush on tblade spammers
