It already has its own gravity. It is a point the size of an atom, that has a ton of matter in it. This matter is forming its own gravity, and there is so much of it in such a tiny spot that the gravity can stop even light from escaping, not through gravity, but through the warping of space that comes with gravity.
Also, did you know that black holes spin? They have no features that shows that they spin, but they very clearly spin. They spin all of space around them as they do.

guys i just had a neuron activation moment- here is my hypothesis of how universes work.
Say that our universe is a hamster tunnel that loops back around (and yes, i am implying that we are hamsters). Now imagine there is another hamster tunnel next to ours, wall to wall. If someone or something on our end were to punch a tiny hole in the wall, it would break our end of the barrier, but not the other, so we wouldnt be able to cross. However, if we were to use an incredible amount of energy to ‘punch’ a hole through both walls, we could get through. However, the larger the hole we make, the more energy we need to punch through- but we can fit through a certain space, therefore, we need enough energy to punch through, However, now imagine black holes are like a supersize electric drill. They are extremely dangerous, but could possibly punch through the barrier so we can get through. However, if we could replicate them on a smaller scale, we could punch through safely- at the cost of massive amounts of energy. This theory is presented in multiple sci-fi things like Stranger Things, but I think i just realized what this means. However, what if the animal in the other hamster tunnel is really a snake? See, there are dangers to this… but there might also be rewards.

Then things get really messy: the black holes start spewing out all of the matter they ate in the past, because the gravities equal out in the middle, and form a point of escape for the matter.
