September Update

New Crafting Station Menu

This is the current UI for crafting stations such as the Workbench. It shows you what resources you need (and any missing), as well as a description of the item being crafted and allows you to set how many to craft.

Updated Animations for certain spells

Spells now have a new player animation meant to be more generic than the pre-existing punch-based animations.

Video Demo of Both

Plus various fixes for issues I have encountered.

The current focus is on building out the content in the forest biome so that a player is able to go from the start of the game with the default items all the way to having built a base with crafting stations and chests, and a full arsenal of spells with which they can use to fight the first game boss.

I chose to start with the fire element for spells, but the more natural element in the forest biome will be Earth/Nature. This will be the intended target for spells to find and craft from within this biome.

This means the starting spells will be replaced by Earth/Nature spells and the fire spells will be set as rare random loot in chests while the focus is on the forest biome.

Testing

Once the progression from start to first boss is in place, I will put out the next test build. The goal of the next test build will be to gather as much feedback as possible on the state of progression, combat, crafting and exploration.

interesting. about the crafting UI (and im assuming that you will add this later in the line), i think it would be beneficial to have a visual/auditory indicator as to when you craft something. it could just be the button pulsing and a sound playing.

i wasnt able to play the last test (at this point id rather wait for the new demo), but im very interested to see what the new test build will be like

Currently the button does move when you press it. But I also don’t have any pickup text since item drops don’t exist yet, I was hoping to potentially use that for both when you craft an item and when you pick one up depending on how it looks. And yeah no ui sounds are added yet have to decide what kind of sounds to use.

ah yea i see that now. idk how i missed that

I think you should still add a sound, even if its just placeholder. Its beneficial to have an auditory cue even at this testing stage
