The anti-capitalization rule, I believe, is one of the looser rules of AntiSpam. Unlike gibberish, such as “cbjdfigjfdgdfg 3 2fsdv ab”, messages conveyed fully in uppercase can still express a coherent thought, and consequently a meaningful message. Both “I’m dying” and “I’M DYING” express the same idea, but the latter is connotatively more intense. While it can be annoying such as in the case of “YOU SUCK”, it isn’t that much different from “you sUck.”
While it is true that anti spam is more obstructive than helpful, it could possibly just be changed to something more simple without interfering in normal conversations players have.
- No caps rule could either be a lower ratio of total uppercase/lowercase letters or removed
- Multiple messages sent in a short timespan will give a few seconds chat block
For the second one, the rule could be something like this; sending 5 messages in less than 3 seconds will cause the user to be ignored for spam momentarily. The current anti spam is too strict and often prevents normal communication, so in few words, entirely removing anti spam would be up to you, but it could just be simplified on the off chance there is a spammer in chat. Otherwise, we can experiment with it being completely gone.
The suggestion solely focuses on tackling the anti-caps rule
Are you suggesting that the caps rule itself should be removed too or just the parts in the plugins that enforce it?
Also another possibility is that instead of rejecting a message upon triggering, it simply lowercases words that have all caps.
I’m suggesting to do both.
I believe it would be better to block messages than to change what people said, as the system may unintentionally modify their meaning
