Correct. I think a bunch of these were just individual names (Possessed Hatchet = “The Cooler Hammer” who? I’ve never heard anyone refer to it like that since the two can only be compared so far) rather than generally accepted community memes (e.g. Golden Shower as “Piss Book”, that’s relatively known). I admit I came up with “Spamming Device” in place of Blizzard Staff as a reactionary thing because of its purpose in the meta currently.
The most I’ve seen as those community inside jokes are:
Breaker Blade → Spoon (reason: @u0a’s Breaker Blade replacement getting big meme potential in this community)
Sniper Rifle → many names because it’s universally known as a strong option (I put “yeah, die” for it)
Chlorophyte Claymore → Basketball Sword (this one’s very recent, but to summarize, I think also u0a replaced Chlorophyte Claymore with a basketball, and then replaced the orb it throws with… a basketball)
Marrow → Moelle (the French word for “marrow” is used for the Marrow bow, and it started as an inside joke in PvP when u0a recorded clips of themselves PvPing in FFA and killing people with an entire hotbar full of Marrows on French language settings, meaning “Oops! All Moelles”)

lol, you would be correct, this is a place where we make nicknames, some of them are set in stone so we put those on
the ones i added are primarily popular names or names ive heard people call their weapons… I’ve taken to nicknaming weapons and some are too good to pass up
