PvP rule suggestions against cheap tactics

  1. No teleporting.
  2. Do not immediately(within a few seconds) attack anyone after enabling PvP.
  3. When you die and respawn, do not attack anyone unless you are being attacked until your spawn invincibility runs out.

These rules mainly apply to Melee characters because they can use these tactics to very easily get close to you and deal a lot of damage while you cannot defend your self against them.

Please tell me what you think of them and if they should be official.

I understand the first and the second one…but why the third one?

The first one is already a rule in PvP, Peter.

oh,you mean tp’ing to ppl?I thought you meant Rod of Discord

Well, I do mean rod of discord, if you are TPing to/near people with it.

Well the RoD is allowed to be used because of someone does decide to use it to tp toward you, you can simply tp away with your RoD and the fight is back to normal. Both parties are able to use it to their advantage.

Even if you do teleport away quickly, they can still deal 200 damage to you before you do teleport using: Sniper Rifle, Terra blade, Paladin’s Hammer…

These sound like valid rules, they should be enforced a little better, and become official.

It would be pretty hard to catch though… We will have to be warning many people, and dealing out many punishments. And that’s if one gets proof of what happened. Could you explain how you would get proof of #2 and 3?

For #2, just record someone being next to you, enabling PvP, and attacking right away.

Well, you would have to be recording all the time, because how do you know when they do it?

You would know to do it if the person you are facing is doing it often, a one-time thing for it wouldn’t be worth a report.

Not banning RoD because it does have a cooldown for switching weapons and is easily counterable by anyone. The rule was enforced on the teleport command not tool. If you’re moving around a lot, using the RoD will hardly be accurate for someone to kill you with, especially a melee weapon. The cooldown makes it long enough for you to fall. Further, the defending person can simply use the same tool to move further away. On the note that they could do damage while you switch to the RoD, you should know they’re using it against you and prepare a teleport using it for when they get to you. I’ve used the RoD with a sniper against someone else with another ranged weapon and RoD many times to know this.

#2 is unenforceable. If you wanted fair PvP, you should do a private match, PvP in a PvP-forced area or duel someone.

#3 is the same. Why are you even near the spawn point?

I’d like to add further though; Toggle-able PvP the way it is in-game and PvP as a whole is terribly implemented. I mentioned early about dueling. C3Mod if it works, provides forced-PvP and set-spawn points. It’s a much better PvP system albeit with all weapons still allowed. My opinion is that Melee was screwed up the second it became some sort of magic-like melee without the mana. I don’t believe projectiles should exist in melee.

Further, putting in rules about public PvP is mainly a waste of time. I suggest its best to simply use C3Mod’s FFA when I get it back or just live with the consequences with the PvP system as it stands.

Also " (This is a rule, but it does not seem to be enforced to well) " is a lie.

Ahahahahahahahahaha you want to ban Rofl’s little trick in pvp. But really, his reason is good. I completely agree with Rofl.

Haha. yeah maybe a little bias from me, but its literally the only tool that I find competes with other weapons as a Sniper.

I imagine an SSC server (to restrict weapon availability) could potentially limit the RoD’s obtain-ability by other “classes” such as melee. But again, the SSC opposition is the first thing that I see.

I would just as upset as Rofl if Rods and sniper were banned :P. i wouldnt be upset however if /tpallow was available to crew+ however staff+ can still teleport.

Yeah, rofl wouldn’t be good at pvp without his rod.

If so rofl, how would melee even stand a chance against ranged/spellcasters?
