I am pretty sure you cannot beat the game without mech bosses as Golem cannot be summoned without beating Plantera and Plantera bulbs cannot be found until all mechs are beaten.

@Solysis Can you explain in detail how one should beat the game without mech boss?

But the point about hacking twice on DG still stands
