Flerb's Appeal

[Q1] Provide the Ban link or if none, the reason
Link:ban.dark-gaming.com/13326

[Q2] Did you break the rules knowingly?
I didn’t break any rules knowingly.

[Q3] Do you think your Ban was fair? If not, please provide a reason.
My ban was fair in terms of behavior. I was acting out too much, and it was affecting many players. I understand that is unacceptable.

[Q4] Why should we unban you?
My efforts are only to support a positive community.

Your ban was put up because you were cheating in PvP, specifically by using some program like Cheat Engine to make your game run faster. What part of that is “supporting a positive community” given you were using it in direct competition with other players?

Also I find this claim questionable at best, given that when you were initially reported you were using the speedhack, and then the next day before you were banned you were playing seemingly normally. How did you unknowingly turn on/off whatever it is you were running?

The was video evidence of me using a speed hack is highly questionable. I’m not an expert in detection of speed hacks or any other hacks because I don’t use any. Are there any other misinterpretations of the the “evidence”, that was set forth. I would consider that before automatically assuming the reason the video they used is complete evidence.

Ever time I play on this server it’s constantly glitching. Depending on which computer I use, or which region I’m in the experience is constantly different. Why would I just blindly admit to something that I didn’t do? I will never. That’s on the mods. If you all honestly think I’m hacking then keep the ban. Out of the three years of playing and countless videos and player trusting me, I think that out weighed one video that can be misinterpreted.

Even you yourself at one point accidently gave me all your equipment during a survival run and I deleted everything immediately. I’m not going to be constantly called a cheater when I’m not.

I would say, if you are recording video in pvp and counting frame rates of most players a lot of the time. Often, you will find it is inconsistent. It is always on my screen. If i randomly record some freak frame rate one or two times, automatically they are cheating? I find that highly questionable considering what I have seen in pvp. I messaged other players and they completely agreed. I’m not alone here.

It was initially passed by 2 different staff members who are seasoned PvP players, one of whom was the one who banned you, and then another staff member with similar skill later. It was then sent by me with some comparisons to unmodified footage (as well as showing client differences where one view was playing normally and the other’s game was sped up). I didn’t have as strong an opinion since I wasn’t doing much testing myself nor do I play PvP much at all now, all I did was say that I thought it looked like a speed hack with what I was shown. The important parts of that:

I didn’t give you those items intentionally. That’s an old bug with the server where when joining Survival, it sometimes swaps one player’s inventory with someone else’s and I still don’t think we know the exact cause. I’m not holding that against you here especially given how you took it at the time it happened: not trying to abuse it and such.

The first main argument made against you were how fast you were initially firing Stake Launcher, faster than even with a highest speed modifier like Rapid or Frenzying, that was really minor and only noted as really visible at the start. The bigger thing pointed out was how while moving you were fairly consistently clipping forwards slightly, not backwards as if your game was running slower. Again, comparisons made with testing with a speedhack:

That being said, though, I was also a bit skeptical over whether it was lag or not so I’ll go ask the staff member who sent in the evidence himself if he’d want to handle the appeal directly instead of just me being a middleman for questions that come up. He didn’t make the ban either but it’s his footage that was used for review, and he has more experience with this specific topic than I do.

Alrighty, update from the guy. To keep things relatively short:

  • We already looked over everything and he said if you were actually speedhacking and let back in he thinks you wouldn’t do it again
  • I agree with that since I was already a little unsure over the ban, haven’t seen a lot of other input so we’ll go on

I was on the fence for the ban then, even more now, and with no input from anyone else I’ll make the call to remove it as an invalid ban. Just confirm for me first: if you were actually doing it, don’t, sound good? Won’t hold it against you in the future.

I appreciate the effort to look into it as much as you have. I agree with your analysis. I have made a great effort to make my case and wouldn’t dare go through this again. I just wanted to be heard. Thank you very much.
