Yes playing hardcore gives far more xp and dp than if you were to similarly play normal mode. Granted, I’m not sure it’s even possible to beat the moon lord on hardcore, given the fact that each hit you take costs a life. Anyway you can check Mathematics of the Economy for some of the map multipliers, which directly influence how much dp/xp you can earn, though this list seems incomplete at the moment.
