[Accepted] Heroku's ban appeal

[Q1] Provide the Ban link or number; E.G. dark-gaming.com/ban/555
https://dark-gaming.com/ban/4017

[Q2] Did you break the rules knowingly?
No, I didn’t know the rules, and that’s my fault for not reading them.

[Q3] Do you think your Ban was fair? If not, please provide a reason.
I shouldn’t of asked for stuff, that is cheating. I should have known better, so I think that the ban was fair.

[Q4] Why should we unban you?
Well, your server is amazing, and when I need materials or something, your server is my go-to. I also love how you set up the lobby, and made a detailed PVP arena. I will read the rules over now to see what I am allowed to do. It was wrong for me to cheat, and even now, I copied the example to not waste time. I think that its up to you if you let me back in, and whatever decision you make will be the right one. I am truly sorry for breaking the rules, and how short my reason is. I hope I can come back to the server, but its your choice.

Also, there are four trash bins that people are using to cheat like I did. They labeled them “donations” and “trades” and ect. I saw them next to the exits in the main Survival building. Again, truly sorry

Re-checking chat around the time you were playing, you didn’t say anything in chat. You didn’t ask for anything, and asking for items is not against the rules. Phase

Exchanging legitimate items is not considered cheating. Using a modified client or any sort of exploit to gain illegitimate items is. This is why you were banned. If there were hacked items in there (there wasn’t) then keeping those items would not be allowed.
Do you understand why you were banned?

Sorry, but no. was i not allowed to open chests under the desert? And the meow-mere i got was at the spawn during a moon-lord battle, so i picked it up. I can get rid of it if it was from a cheat if you’d like.

also i was just jumping to ask for stuff, but its ok if you dont believe me

From above,

You were banned for the use of a modified client to cheat in items. This reason, rather than simply possession of cheated items, is due to the following: little known prior playing time, lack of chat history suggesting any item exchanges of one wealthy user to one or more others, the presence of a full set of Cobalt armor gained very quickly after joining survival the first observed time in the reset, the appearance of cheated items in the midst of multiple known and trusted members, and private indicators to flag users more or less likely to break certain rules.
The claim you were given items, some of which were hacked, is something I believe to be false. Besides being a very common reason given in past appeals, the server disallows non-crew[1] members from throwing items, so the chances of picking up hacked items are very close to zero. Whether or not a player has crew can simply be checked by viewing their dtp inventory for a crew badge. And if you were given items then

I shouldn’t of asked for stuff, that is cheating. I should have known better, so I think that the ban was fair…

This suggests your view of cheating as any exchanges of items with others or items taken from storages.

View seems consistent as you seem to hold doubt in opening world chests. Now, what makes your meowmere the odd item out that is worth an exclusive mention? I have mentioned the possession of cheated items is not allowed in my response, but you don’t seem to acknowledge the meaning of what cheating is. Any items gained from others or from storages or the definition described in the rules? And if it was from someone else, whom? Why had they only given out one item that only you received, and no other players on at the time were found in issue, including the cheater themselves?

I do not believe you to have obtained questionable items from others, as your criteria reads very similar to many other hackers. Player joins server. In a minute of joining, they go from default copper tools set → full set of some nice armor while still with the basic bare bones default player (copper tools, 100hp 20mp and nothing else). Some slightly more mindful get an obtainable set of armor for the claim that they were given it, despite no chat history of asking or offers for items. On this server, charity is very rare, as the idea items given out actually aided progression rather than lessen the resources of the progressive players died out; there’s no point to give stuff to noobs who just join and quit forever. Player gets some very nice weapons or tools. Some slightly more crafting may match to known progression by asking what bosses were defeated, or by getting the boss drops of an active boss. Player gets caught, as I’ve seen this pattern too many times to count. Player says in appeal: “A friend gave it to me™.” Who, and how come nobody else got any items from them? Many players simply just cannot recall who their friends are, as they apparently treat “friends” with as great respect they do the rules or the server. Player says in appeal: “I found it in spawn.” Despite only crew being able to drop items. Player says in appeal: “I found it in the trash cans.” With frequent inventory checking + lack of chat suggesting item exchanges + no other players seen with suspicious items + suspicious items appearing when others online are members with a low likelihood to break rules, this is hard to believe.

[1] With a large amount of players having issue with the procedures to gain crew or the simple ignorance if it, there are relatively few crew members. This, and a tendency I have to check on crew members more for a general marker of server progression, makes the chances of a hacker with crew dropping cheated items “very close to zero.” Those with crew have a lower tendency to break the rules.

Do you know why you were banned, and the rule(s) you came into issue with? You can check the rules here, your banlink, and my responses above. I try to give difficult statements so someone won’t just feel free or unpressured to continue breaking the same rules after an appeal, depending on perceived severity.

I’m sorry, but i don’t have, and never have used hacks or cheats in my whole terraria experience. I got the cobalt armor and the javelins from the trash bin on the right named “trading” or something like that, and i’m not lying about the meow-mere. I thought it would be ok to take the stuff in exchange for 3 gold bars, and 24 gel. I don’t know if it was fair, but a had very little items that might be useful to other players. The meow-mere was at the spawn right after i died, and so i picked it up thinking that it was for someone to help kill moon-lord. I don’t want to wast your time so if you would like me to leave darkgaming, i will be ok with your choice. Im sorry for any trouble i caused, and hope you forgive me. I swear on my life that everything above is true.

the cobalt armor had a cobalt sword, and 24 cobalt bars with it too, Agian Sorry

Read all of the rules here and copy exactly the rule(s) you broke. Then tell me what you will do to avoid repeating this issue.

#2 Bugs & Exploits
Exploitation of bugs or other unintentional mechanics is forbidden. Problems should be reported and should not be abused while they exist. Accounts that use bugs and exploits will be reset or suspended. (unintentional)

#4 Item Drops
Keeping illegit item drops is equivalent to using a Modified Client to spawn them in. Refer to S5#1. (The meow-mere, and javelins from the trade trash bin)

If i find anything too overpowered just lying around, or see anyone use hacks, i will report it. I still haven’t, and will never use hacks.

Q. If i find anything in the trash bins, like the cobalt stuff, can i keep it?

Appeal accepted.
Report players on the server discord http://discord.gg/ZuNQUdZ in #player-reports following the report format in the channel topic.
If an item appears illegitimate or impossible (like 999 platinum coins, 999 luminite bars, or a meowmere in pre-hardmode) then don’t keep the item. Otherwise anything should be fine to keep.
