useless fact: everything you learn in history/ social studies
not to mention later English / Language Arts—once you know how to put words together and make them sound good (the latter of which it doesn’t really directly teach you) you don’t need to know any of the terms for the bits and bobs of a sentence; you’re only ever going to say that someone’s sentence contained a past participle hyperbole photosynthesis-based phrase clause in order to sound smart.
Both depend on your field of study though
Did you know that it is possible to get two Enchanted Sword shrines right next to each other?
Did you know that a group of squid is called a ‘shoal’ even though I strongly believe that they should instead be called a ‘squad’?
Did you know octopi is not the official term, and that you should use ‘octopuses’?
Fun but ultimately useless Terraria trivia: Gladiator Armour’s set bonus gives you complete resistance to knockback as though you equipped a shield accessory. This is mostly useless, as the armour is not only incredibly hard to farm, but also low in defense compared to alternatives, greatly reducing its viability in earlygame tank builds.
meh i used gladiator armor a few times…it’s decenty tanky.
Finally, my time has come to display my knowledge about groups of animals.
A long time ago, my brother and I put together a list of what groups of animals are called, including quite a few fantasy creatures as well.
I really want to give my opinion on all of these, but there are just too many of them…
xD love the list, a destruction of cats caught my eye
i like to think that this was to insult congress or something
Fun but ultimately useless Terraria trivia: Pumpkin Armour is essentially a player’s earliest access to damage-boosting armour (assuming their device’s date is set near Halloween), with its set bonus of +10% all-class damage. This is ultimately useless as for the most part, earlygame weapons have exceedingly low base damage, meaning for the part of the game where you would actually have Pumpkin Armour, it would only increase your damage by 1-2, maybe 3 on particularly strong items like the Musket, per hit.
Additionally, Minishark, one of the stronger weapons of the stage, gains no direct benefit from the bonus (only its bullets do). This is why stacking Lucky is better than stacking Menacing in earlygame accessory rerolling. Plus, even if you do have a higher-damage bullet (generally Tungsten), the 10% damage bonus is still probably outranked by Fossil Armour’s 13% crit, ammo consumption reduction and slightly higher defense, or Platinum Armour’s twice-as-high defense, or Ancient Shadow Armour’s melee speed, or even Cactus Armour’s decent (classic) to powerful (master) thorns effect.
In the end, as neat as the bonus may seem, it is simply not the armour of choice for earlygame bossing. Pumpkin Armour sadly falls into the pit of immense mediocrity during a period of the game where the player finds themselves by no means starved for choices, resulting in its set effect becoming an obscure piece of knowledge that only longtime players and wiki surfers may know.
vmax of a sentry equals to 0 km/h.
Oh… honestly pumpkin armor is basically my source for free better-than-wood armor during halloween. I don’t use it later after bosses, but it’s a decent speedrun armor with good defense, and the 1-2 damage actually does help a bit during bossfights…
Of course, that was before cactus armor dealt thorns… yeah I love cactus armor more now.
Also, could somebody please tell the devs to buff rain armor and snow armor? I’m sick and tired of my suggestions on r/terraria getting flooded over lol.
Fun but ultimately useless Terraria trivia: Despite not negating knockback, the Squire’s Shield is usable with the Brand of the Inferno’s parry ability, which requires a shield accessory to be equipped for use. It is the only accessory which does not negate knockback yet works with BotI. This is ultimately useless, however, as the Squire’s Shield is a Summoner accessory, while the BotI is a Melee weapon—and a very bad one, at that, requiring a perfectly-timed input at point-blank range for the same damage you could get out of using the weapon you spend Striking Moment on only four more times, probably from a longer distance.
BotI comes in at a stage of the game where enemies and bosses are generally either much too dangerous to duel face-to-face or much too fast to possibly be approached and parried properly; the player is generally better off using a Shield which actually provides defense and anti-knockback so that they may take the risks that the Brand desires. The Squire’s Shield does not boost the Brand or its accompanying higher-damage melee weapon in any way, and the Brand does not boost the additional Sentry the Shield allows the player to spawn, nor does it buff any form of Summon damage. A melee-focused build sees the Squire’s Shield’s damage increases becoming irrelevant, and a summon-focused build sees the Brand’s damage bonus becoming not only dangerous for the squishiest class in the game, but also not particularly worthwhile when the time required to pull off the Striking Moment combo could instead be used for Whip stacking to continue practically doubling damage dealt.
The obvious compromise, Squire Armour, actually provides a decent synergy (perfect parry while activating Ballista Panic) but once more fails to deliver results: the Ballistae miss their shots on the fast-moving bosses and the Brand continues to cause the player unnecessary damage, in the end making it simply more viable to run another weapon or a much tankier shield. The potential between these items admittedly frustrates me, as with all four of the Ogre accessories currently being simple clones, why not make each one suited to its respective Ogre weapon and OOA armour? But this potential goes untapped, and thus leaves us to ponder the synergy that could have been.
Another useless fact:
you can put (1, 2, or 3).(1, 2, or 3).(1 or 2).(world seed) to make certain codes for world types.
For example, 2.2.2.for the worthy gives you a medium, expert, crimson for the worthy world.
1.2.1.not the bees gives you a small, expert, corruption Not the Bees world.
Be careful not to type that in ingame chat
