What would be more confusing? Having 0.5s then rounding up to get 1s or rounding down to get 0s?
This is also noticeable in vanilla Terraria, where buffs would say you have 0s left
- Rounding Up
- Rounding Down

Rounding down, because its completly normal that 0.5 round to 0, since that tecnically is a second (so -1 would be the 0?)(edited a little, i got lost)
But if is rounded to 1 will be weird that 3 and 2 is a normal second , but 1 would have a duration of 1.5 seconds?, and that means that then 2 will have the duration in the 1.6 and 2.5 seconds? So we have counted in the 1.5 ,2.5,3.5 periods of time? And what about 0? Its tecnically will have only 0.5 seconds of duration, wait… That applies also on the first answer…?
Anyway, its just a 0.1, and as a mobile player i don’t get that info sooo… I really don’t know why im writting this
Well, wouldn’t this be impossible? It has a specific countdown so when it says it hits 0s, it’s actually going by the milliseconds as would normal seconds do. All time goes down by milliseconds first which you can’t round them up or down…
And to answer your questions, nyes. Both of these are confusing but doing one or the other would either be speeding up or slowing down time(cooldown time that is).
Wait a minute,so that is only the display? There is not real modification on the timer?, now the both answers are confusing…
Actually there are milliseconds. That’s why when it hits zero on its display, it doesn’t disappear immediately. It has to count down the remaining milliseconds
Thats why sometimes in timers, you see an extremely fast number to the right of the seconds place. Those are milliseconds
Plus, that timer is merely visual so it doesn’t actually display the milliseconds. Henceforth, you cannot round up nor down because that would be defying the laws of time
@Geolindrag I also welcome you to Dark Gaming seeing as though you joined 3 days ago! I wish you great luck here!
No, I meant complete Round Up and Down. I should’ve clarified, there’s 2 functions in Math, one called Floor and one called Ceiling. By Round Up I mean Ceiling, which rounds 2 to 2.9 to 3, Floor(Round Down) in contrast rounds 2 to 2.9 to 2. Floor/Round Down is the current behavior both Zombies and Terraria Buff Duration
Yeah
Its confusing because you can’t round up or down timers…
If the ability duration were to be rounded down, it would have consistency with how buff durations work, but it also makes 1s look shorter than the other seconds.
Thanks for the feedback! I created this poll to see whether ability timers should round up or down, but it appears everyone’s split, so I’ll leave at that for now
