It doesn’t do this because pinging when reset would mean people getting pinged at midnight. Doing that doesn’t provide a better alternative when most people are sleeping by then for school/work, and are not going to vote first thing in the morning. Because of that, it’s set to ping at 5pm EST because for most timezones, you’re already home and most likely still awake.
